This is a performance about architecture, photography
and space in New York City.
01.Stephanie 2009.
She was working on a documentary series about intimacy in the City and more specifically about the rooftop community that she encountered throughout her 4 years living in NYC. She had been spending a few month up in the air and head into clouds when she came across Maria.
02. María Spring. She was a new comer in NYC and she liked playing just to observe, walking up and down the city with her eyes wide open. She quickly became conscious of New York typical railroadapartmentsand started drawingprojects oftransformationofthespecific living space.
Together, they decided to push their obsessions further and create a performance about it.
The goal was to squeeze a lifetime of living in a railroad apartment in NYC into a few hours of free performance.
They created a fake railroad apartment on a rooftop in Brooklyn and designed 5 different settings of the apartment to make it evolve over 80 years of time.
They gathered friend artists on the customed rooftop on Saturday September 26th 2009 for a surprise performance. They welcomed everyone in the fake apartment and briefly explained the concept: be at home for the next 80 years... And they let the magic happen!
